I think I know the answer to this but...

Is it possible to purchase the musicman piezo saddles and have them fitted/send the bass to the factory and they put in the piezo gizmos?

Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to buy another fretless, with piezo...

Me thinking that bongo in the for sale thread.

Nope. Think of the routing that would have to be done.....nope.

Guess you'll just have to buy another one. Dang, I hate that.

So it's not "possible"? I hate to disagree but if you paid me a nominal fee I would gladly route that bass out enough to put a small block chevy in it if you so desired..it's only wood..although yes, expensive wood.

Now as far as if it's possible to purchase the piezo saddles..that's another story.

Not possible to have it done at the factory, I should say.

Also not possible to buy the EBMM piezos as aftermarket items.

Outlook is dim.

As the question was posed, Jack issued the correct response in his initial reply.

Apparently so. But in order for me to forfill my profecy of pissing someone off..I needed to question it.

And to continue the trend..the actual answer is not so much that it is "not possible"..but that MM will in all likelyhood refuse to do it..for whatever reason.

BTW, note that I am kidding around and just being a wiseass...you all know I love my MM's..and the companies support.

So POSSIBLE, just not PROBABLE.

All the more reason to buy a new bongo (although, having heard what a sterling with piezo sounds like...oh man here we go again)

Zak, I'm not known for yanking chains just to see what kind of noise people will make, and I'm telling you that what you want to do is not possible.

First, look at the difference in body routes between a piezo-equipped bass and a non-piezo bass. It's major.

Second, realize that EBMM won't retrofit piezos. Then think about whether or not you want someone going at your baby with a router. How much trust do you have?

Third, you can't buy the piezos as aftermarket parts. So you're going - where? To buy them?

Fourth, the preamp would have to be replaced. Where are you going to get that?

The list of reasons "why not" is long. I could go on. But I think you get what I'm saying.

The upside is - you get to buy a Bongo!

Ha, that clip is exactly what I was thinking about when I posted that!

Thanks Jack for clearing that up, I realised it would be a BIG job if it could be done at all. I did, deep down, know that it couldn't be done - but wanted to believe. It would be the ultimate bass! And no I don't have that much trust. Maybe for BP (will he ever bring us a bad bass?) and maybe yourself (will you ever not bring a gem of knowledge in these situations?)

'captain birdseye' will remain untouched.

For now...

actually,wait, for ever.
