Hi guys,

I'm new to the Forum and the new owner for a Musicman JP7 guitar :)
Unfortunately, this guitar which I've bought new, came to my hands with 2 scratches... a tiny one (on the forearm scoop) and a not not so tiny one near the piezo switch.

Pics here https://goo.gl/photos/UxmavT28Aunz5mPZ7

They seem to be color deep and cut through the clear coat (you can definitely feel the texture with the finger). I would normally not be bugged if they were in the back of the guitar, but not on the front, and not on a brand new instrument (or at least sold like one).

Please, help me with your expertise on these matters :)

Hi and welcome. I cannot really comment with any great confidence from the photos.

I have experience of dealing with scratches (I've even removed the top coat of a guitar revealing the original underneath).
In both instances I used the product mentioned in this thread.

(Wow, I cannot believe that was 6 years ago!!!)
The company went on to use my pictures and video on their web site.

Let us know how you get on?
P.S. It may be best to contact Customer Service first, as there may be warranty implications?

Wow that looks very promising. I might just consider it indeed, if the customer support of the shop who sold me the guitar doesn't tend to it.

Yeah you're right. I'll try to get it sorted first with the seller shop itself, although they're not a big guitar center or anything and I don't think they have any other JP on sale, much less another JP7 or in that color, so I'm not sure what will my chances of success be. I can imagine I'm left to sort it out by myself.
I mean these guys where about to sell me the guitar with the case and without no whammy bar and no documentation or anything, if I had not pointed it out to them
In fact come to think of it, the guitar might actually be old stock from some other retailer.. may have been a show model.. who knows. Maybe there's not even warranty left on it anymore. They said it was new but I have no papers or certifications yet, as they are still supposed to send them to me (together with the whammy)

But it's good to know I can get this polish remover kit around here, it's available both in Amazon UK and DE

well I got it in the UK - actually got together with a forum member and a mate. Got a 3 for 2 deal, so got it cheaper.

The issue you raise is an interesting one? Customer Services may be able to tell you who the guitar was shipped to brand new.
Whatever the situation, take advise from CS- they are really good with this kind of thing.
