Are you asking if the neck has been refinished or if the neck has finish on it?

I recall having a Silhouette with a poly finish on the neck. I ended up trying to sand it off but it was a pain to do.

Any info (color, shipment, specs etc) on EBMM Silhouette would be greatly appreciated. 90851
I just bought it from previous owner
Thanks before
This Silhouette was completed on August 30th, 1990. The color is white with the maple neck. It was originally shipped to Guitar Stand.

According to your question in the Serial-Thread, your guitar is from 1990 which says to me, that is has a finished neck. EBMM started the oil/wax-necks around 1991 with the introduction of the EVH if I´m right.
The marked area in your pic looks like playing wear on a finished maple neck. Seen this on other guitars and I would personally call it Mojo.
I don´t know if EBMM would refinish this neck for you. You should ask them directly

I was thinking the same thing. I think it looks cool. I can't wait until my EBMMs have that on 'em!

Until around 1991 the necks was bolt on with 6 screws and finished/laquered at the back
after that the neck heel was changed (now just 5 scews and a more comfy neck heel) and the neck was without any finished, just rubbed with gunstock oil and wax (search forum - much info about that). that gives it the feel of bare wood but is protected through oil/wax. the headstock is still finished (front and back).

2 pics of a 6-bolt-neck with finish

a pic of a 5-bolt, unfinished neck (the guitar once beloned to me, you can see that the unfinished back of the neck had gotten a bit darker, whereas the finished headstock still is very light)

Here are infos about treating an unfinished Music Man neck
