I've been jonesing for a Stingray 4 H for quite a while now. Thought I was going to go with a Classic, but one particular Ray has been calling me for about a year. Hanging at the Bass Emporium was this 8.25 SB, maple, matching Ray... and I played it alot sitting around the shop. It recently occurred to me that this bird in the hand was the one to go for. It really is a great example of the species - light, responsive, consistent. It would have been a mistake to let this one go elsewhere. That's right, 8.25 lbs!! Snap that mofo up!!

i dont know about you guys, but knowing THE bass whisperer is rockin a stingray, makes the part of me that needed zero validation, feel all validated and stuff.

It's almost okay that I haven't convinced him to get a Bongo over these last, oh....six years. Not giving up, though.

I do love sunburst, at one point I think I had 7 sunburst basses simultaneously... But the look was not really the deciding factor. This really is an exceptionally good one. I mean, they're all good... but every now and then one comes along that stands out. The last time there was a sub 8.5lb Ray at the shop, I let it go, and I still kick myself for not grabbing it...

There is a White Classic at the store right now that is a relatively light 9.25lbs... that was pretty darn tempting... But this is the one!

Tonight was fun with new Ray night. Took it out on my rock/soul/blues/garage/r&b gig with Sideshow Five. It sounded awesome! Felt great too, and man do I love an 8.25 lb bass. I love getting the amp real loud so I can keep the eq flat. It's so responsive, the slightest little taste of any of the eq controls makes a huge difference that way. We like!
