Tonight was fun with new Ray night. Took it out on my rock/soul/blues/garage/r&b gig with Sideshow Five. It sounded awesome!

Nice stage shoot Ed!
This sunburst "baby Ray" looks awesome in live performance surroundings!

What amp/combo is used behind You on this photo?

Had to match the shirt to the bass for it's debut!

@BP - One Trick Pony? Wasn't that a movie featuring Tony Levin playing a Stingray bass? Maybe that's where they got the name.

Oh, they wrote a song about the Stingray too...

The final answer to the 2 band vs 3 band argument.

Ed rocks a 3 bander

You know... this choice was not really about 3 vs. 2 band for me. It really came down to weight, and the fact that this particular Ray was a great one. I would still like a 2-band someday.

Ed,

I don't want to hijack your thread but, by any chance, did you play the used sunburst fretless piezo Stingray at the store ?
I'm looking for one at a decent price, and it's a very rare species especially in France.
I'm about to buy it and if you could tell me your opinion I would be more confident.

Thanks in advance,

Ed, that's a very nice bass you have there. I can really appreciate the weight. I just finished a 2 1/2 hour practice with my 10.5 lbs Stingray. My middle back is all cramped up. May be time to look for something lighter.

Great review, Ed. Maybe it will persuade the good folks at EB to build more lighter basses!
