I was thinking of ordering a Silhouette Special in Carbon Blue Pearl since some of the pictures I've come across have made me fall in love with that colour.
I have not seen one in real life. Only through everyone's wonderful pics!! :)
However, Pics of Ali's new Luke (which is beautiful by the way) has shown me the colour under a different light! Though the colour is nice, it's not what I was picturing.
I will post the versions I've seen.
I need your feedback as to how accurate the pics are to reality.
This is very important to me since I've been waiting what seems like forever to find that special Axe! ;)

Here's the pic I fell in love with and am hoping it's a true rendition of what I'd be getting.

I am hoping it's just the reflection / glare.
But you can see from the pics that it looks like an entirely different colour.
HELP!!!!

I just went to the MM site.
Am I confusing "Blue Pearl" with "Carbon Blue Pearl"??
I don't think they should have those names so alike!!!

No offense fogman!!! It's a really hard colour to photograph, especially with a cheap digital camera like mine!!! That photo you show has a lot of reflection and glare. It was done on the non-flash setting so the exposure is much longer- hence the blurriness, but I reckon it stays open too long. It does look much lighter than reality. The pictures I took with the flash are closer to reality but they tend to look far more sparkly than you get in real lighting. The closest to real colour is the one I took last, in the case, with the flash. If you imagine that without the sparkly look then you're most of the way there. It really is such a hard colour to match up in photos. I've not seen a single photo on the web that looks "right".

The tone towards the horns where the sparkle isn't as visible is closest to reality but not quite there.

The Silo you picture is far too dark. it looks nothing like that. The AL is much closer but still a little too light. I'll try and get a better, more representative photo but the ones I took involved deleting another 20 worse ones!!!

What never seems to come through is the very slight turquoise look of it. It's not glaringly green but imagine a dark blue with a touch of Envy Green through it...

I think it would look gorgeous on a Silo, especially with the abalone look pickguard, even the dark grey abalone for a different look...

I'll try my best to get a good match :)

Oh, forgot to mention, you can't mistake Carbon Blue for Blue Pearl. The latter is much lighter and brighter. Almost an electric blue.

The bottom one here shows a good example of Blue Pearl (non Carbon ;) )

This isn't a bad representation but, again, the flash makes it look slightly different from reality:

Carbon Blue Pearl really is a sweet color. I have an SR4 with a white ice pickguard and it is sharp!!! I don't think you can go wrong with that color. The pictures above don't do it justice.

This pic pretty much nails the color. It is a non-shiny blue with a grays mixed in. It's kinda like a piece of blue metal.

Though the real colour has hints of green/aqua about it as well.

Damn, its difficult to describe. Just go and buy one :D

OK fogman. These are the best I can do with a cheap digicam and no photographic ability at all ;)

The first is taken in our lounge and the lightining isn't pure white but it does give some idea:

The second is taken on our kitchen worktop under bright halogen lighting. You get more reflections unfortunately, but a better idea of the colour:

Neither is quite right but as close as I can get. Hope those help...

Ali.
You're the best!
That's beautiful!!
Thanks for posting again. I really appreciate it.
Those pics represent more of what I would hope for based on other pics I've seen.
If I were buying "blue", I wouldn't want it to be gray!
