HI guys,I've read a couple threads on this forum that were talking about carpal tunel but I didnt find the right info for my specific case.
Here's the question, can carpal tunel syndrome affect the lower middle part of the hand(inside) and...the thumb,I never heard anyone talk about the thumb.
If I try to reach the palm of my hand with my thumb (like holding the neck) it hurts in the lower middle part of the hand and my thumb,it hurts to death and recently my thumb turned completely numb for about 2 weeks or so,it's not numb anymore but,if I could,I would rip it off because of the pain!!
You know when you have a EBMM you don t want to play less to preserve your hands, you always wanna play more....it's humour but it's true and I think I'll have to pay the price now.

I think it's probably BP's fault, for making such nice instruments to play so we can't stop playin untill our hands fall apart loll!!

thank you all

I'll ask my wife tonight, but I bet nerve entrapment can do a whole bunch of stuff.

best to go see a doctor. From what little I know, symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome usually consist of numbness and loss of strength but not pain. So there may be something else going on. Either way, it really is best to give your hand and wrist some rest and get in to the doctor.

+100 on seeing a doctor, I've had both hands operated on for carpel, left hand was really bad & the right just bad, I didn't have that pain, just a lot of numbness, a nerve conduction test is important. I'm all messed up as I have arthritis also,so I have
different issues, but don't ignore pain, get it checked bro. All the best, Rick

In my experience, which includes CT release surgery, no. CTS usually starts with numbness/tingling/weakness at the pinky, eventually growing across the fingers. This can either be an annoyance or outright painful, depending on the person and his/her CTS.

I have arthritis in one of the joints of my left thumb, and the pain you describe sounds similar but not similar. We figure it's caused by some long-ago trauma - like using my hand as a hammer.

Don't screw around. Nor wait. Get thee to a good ortho guy that specializes in hands. Start with your local sports medicine clinic.

I have had it, but not so much in the thumbs. What an intense pain. And irritating because you can't play, Oh My God! Try to see a doctor and a chiropractor. A brace always helps for me.
