And the people were up and dancing for every song. The place was packed.

Speaking of "dancing", I didn't witness it , but Tommy told me a story that makes me wish I went to the Friday night show too... (alone) Maybe Tommy will share with everyone... :p

Tommy is a scary good player. Last time I saw him was 10 or so years ago--he was in fusion band with the bass player from my band,a guy named Brian Hayes(also a great player). I can just imagine the progression till now--I'll have to go visit and see one of his gigs. The delaware scene has always been like that---most guys that are good are in several bands at once. I was involved in the Philly scene---but guys usually stuck with one band there. Close in proximity--but 2 totally different scenes. BTW--he's one of the first guys I saw play a EBMM if I remember correctly------there were probably adult beverages involved at that time in my life though...................

Would that have been "Kong" playing all instrumental jazz/fusion/rock (Dregs/Beck/Chick Corea) stuff and maybe had a little bitty stuffed gorilla nearby? If so, that would've been back in oh, about 1989-91 (just a bit more than 10 yrs!). ;)
They were one of my favorites. And then, of course, when he played w/the MIBs about 8-10 years earlier...

You'll have to plan a trip, and *then* ask which band is playing and where. The schedule changes... a lot.

hey K how do you like chord chemistry?

I picked up a copy of that book. I haven't read it cover to cover yet, but just skimming and looking at the charts, it looks like a great read. I've read through the first few pages. I like the guy's approach. (I wish they'd tell you which fingers to use in those chord diagrams though. In most cases it's probably obvious how to form the chord, but I always wonder if there isn't a better way than what I'm doing.)

I also like the books by Wilbur Savidge.. I have two:
"Everything About Guitar Scales"
"Scales Over Chords"

..and he has one about chords as well which I'm anxious to get.

I had 4 years of music theory and composition classes, but I still have a lot of "a-ha!" moments when I read Savidge's stuff. He has a unique way of pointing out things that are right under your nose but you may not have noticed.

I highly recommend Wilbur Savidge's books. They always begin with the fundamentals, which I read even though I think I know them, and I always learn something new from him.

That would have been the band. Did't rememnber the name.I remember lots of Dregs and Beck. Brian Hayes(bass player) also had a EBMM back then and I remember he was takin lessons from Dave Larue who I see is a EBMM guy now. Also saw the MIBs a few times--but never with Tommy. I knew Jimmer and Pauly cause I worked for Tommy Conwell for a long time. Those times all run together in my mind now---I spent way to much time partying in those days instead of playing and learning. I finally learned my lesson!!!!!!:)

Recalls to mind the mini "Stressfestival" we had here iin the backyard a few summers ago in honor of Steve. All in attendance are either Steve Morse mailing list members (we're linked on his website) or friends/family of same.

Aftershock band members traveled in from PA, Rose (NJ), Dave B. (Australia, yes the country!) Carl W. (mid-West), Joe F. (Baltimore) and a bunch of others. The grill was busy, someone broke out the tequila and shots were had, beers were consumed, photographic evidence was taken (by yours truly, of course) and music was played all afternoon. I'm sure the neighbors were beside themselves. hee hee! We all had a blast.

To top it off, Kanas was playing in town a night or so later and our Aussie buddie went with me and another friend to the show. Unfortunately, Thom had a gig that night. Great times, fond memories.
