As I play with realy low action on my Sterling and strings .040 .060 .080 .080 (yes 2 .080's I like the feel of thinner strings :) ) also I sometimes tune down 1/2 a step or a whole
I get the "clicking" sound (mostly while slapping) of the string hitting the coil
mostly it's the .080 string wich normaly must be .100 or so ... but also sometimes the 2th .080 string
I also don't want to put the pickup lower cuz I like the feel of my fingers touching somthing underneath the strings while playing...
So... my question is : Is it okay to cellotape the pickup so that the strings wouldn't hit the coil "directly" or would I still hear the "clicking" sound? or would it suck volume?

Many thanx already !!!

I think you'll find the magnetic properties of the pickup pole will not be diminished by sellotape.

That depends on how many layers you plan to use though.....in which case, by the time the magnetism is gone though multiple layers of sellotape, so will the pickup's ability to 'pick-up'
