Ceramic or Alnico?!

Hey folks...
See I bought a Sting Ray5 about a year ago, from a friend that was selling it... he said that he bouth the bass new in 2005. I´d like to know some things about the bass... I see that people always say about that website with a lot of serial numbers... but the closest I ever get was just about 3 numbers =P
So, the serial number is E46419
In wich year was it made? what are the pole pieces, alnico or ceramic? Is there a way that I can see the difference between them?

Go HERE for the date as you may get missed in this thread. However, it appears to be a 2005 Bass.

The SR5 had alnico from 1987 to circa 1992 before going to ceramic. They go back to alnico this year.

Dude, I have already looked at this site... my serial is not listed... that´s why I posted the thread...
The closest I can get is E464... but the last 2 numbers still missed
I know for you guys seem to be a silly question, but I really would like to know if there is a way to discover the DOB.

The SR5 had alnico from 1987 to circa 1992 before going to ceramic. They go back to alnico this year.

What is the difference between ceramic and alnico? Does one have a higher output, more treble, or more bass? Can you tell the difference in the sound?

In my experience and to my ear, ceramic has more upper mids while alnico can be a bit more scooped sounding and has more lo-mids. Alnico may have sligthly more low end.

You don't need all serial the numbers to pretty much figure out what year the bass was made.

Look at the list; anything E46... was made in early 2005.

Or did you want the exact date it was finished?

Ceramic Magnets look shinny and silvery

Alnico Magnets have more of a grayish look to them

both sound good to me.
