I have just bought a fixed bridge silhouette which has far exceeded my expectations except I would prefer it with a trem. Has anyone installed a trem onto a fixed bridge body, and is it a difficult job? Appreciate any help. Thanks!

It's a reasonably difficult job, and you'll need to route for the trem. Larger issue is that you can't buy the MM trem, so you'd have to look at something else (Gotoh, Floyd style, etc.).

Personally, if you really want a trem, I'd suggest trading with someone.

Thanks for the reply, that's kind of what I thought but was hoping it would be an easy swap over!

A Bigsby is very cool looking but is limited to subtle wobbles than full blown tremolo waggling.

If your silhouette has the x-factor (as we discussed in another thread ;)) and if you were dead set on a trem then I'd be tempted to mod it, although i'd be wary of losing that x-factor along the way! Probably I'd trade it for a trem silhouette.

As a final contender, while its not pretty, a Stetsbar retrofits with no modifications making it totally reversible. Some guys I know have stuck these on vintage guitars when the need to waggle a bar comes along, but at the same time avoiding modding their investments!

I think it will be too much hassle retro-fitting a trem. I'll probably just trade it for a trem model. Question is, which one, HSS, SSS, black or white?

I've been really impressed with the silhouette. Having overlooked them for a long time in favour of my JP6 and Axis I'm pleasantly surprised. Just need to try an Albert Lee now!

I was able to buy a real MM Floyd and install it on a hardtail SiLO. I had a pro do the job and I was really happy with the result. Now I have the only Lowers Pitch Only MM Floyd SiLO.
I wouldn't do it again.
Once you do that then the value of the guitar goes down as the non factory mod.
Save up and either trade in or just buy another. I have never been unhappy with that.
