While "The one true bass .. Bongo 4 HS Egyptian Smoke" is still true, the arrival of this :

has led to a slight modification :)

Only slightly heavier than the 4 according to my not-very-accurate scales (10lbs compared to 9 3/4), and almost as described by the ebay seller (his claim that there were no scratches or dings has proved to be slightly inaccurate :( )

Great sounding bass though, which is what really matters.

I have previously (and foolishly) stated that while the Bongo isn't the best looking bass I've owned,it is the best sounding, but I've changed my mind, it does look very fine indeed, and the shape is as good looking as it is comfortable to play.

And while it might not happen for a long while yet, a Bongo 6HS has to complete the set one day :)

Wow, looks like treasure....

Gold and guards...I'm not sure what would look 'better' as they all look pretty good...There was a MedGold Sterling posted just the other day with a tort guard, you know more pictures sure wouldn't hurt...
