Hi guys,

anybody modded his Silo Spec into a Silo Tele? I found some pics of Brad Paisleys Silo Tele (seems to be a 24fret Silo) with a tele bridge. What a superb looking guitar! So I´m thinking about modding my SS to tele specifications. There´s a fantastic tele pups set on the german market (Ray Gerold Tele Bourbon set), Greg Koch plays it in his tele.

The problem is the trem of my SS. I don´t need it at all but of course there´s a big hole in the guitar for the trem. Any experiences about changing a trem guitar into a string-through-body guitar?

So let me know what you´re thinking about.

So I looked around at EBMM guitars and found out, that the Benji Madden Signature should be a good choice for a tele mod. String through body bridge, and the specs of a Silo Spec. Any experience about the routing under the pickguard? Only for the single hum or Silo Spec standard routing for three pickups?

There are two BM Models around here in Germany, one in white, the other in green, both with maple neck and fretboard. Nice looking guitars.

PLEASE keep us posted Skerwoo, this is gonna be awesome.

I've been scouring eBay for a while now for a well priced, used Silo Spec hard tail for a tele mod. I can't wait!

Yeah, I've been thinking about the same kind of thing. Tele pickups in a Silo. That would be sweet. Seems that I remember seeing a Silo with a set of Tele pickups at a guitar show in Columbus, Ohio about 15 years ago...and I think the seller said that it was a stock pickguard...

Sorry that i did not answer a few days, but i was out of home and far away from the i-net. I´m always thinking about this project and regarding for an ebmm to do it. I´m really curious if this silo tele gets also the classic tele tones. Normally i think yes, these are the same woods used on a silo and a tele (alder or ash, maple neck), both are bolt on, string through and would get that special tele baseplate.

So i`ll keep you updated. The only thing that could happen are these damn good lucking MJT tele kits, these are really fantastic original looking tele guitars. Unfortunately without the great EBMM necks.

Another thing that you can do.....get a toploader tele bridge. That way, it would not matter if you use a trem or hardtail guitar.

not sure but it might be a difference in how the guitar is sounding

Thats also my experience, it´s thinner sounding than a string through bridge.

BTW, news coming up: yesterday I got a white 24 fret hardtail silo with the classic HSH pu setting and mapleneck. No pics at the moment but I think i will pick it up after xmas or new year. Should be a very good basis for a tele modd. But first i have to play it a time with the standard configuration.

Pics are coming when i got it.

That natty tele looks pretty cool, but I never liked the idea of having to intonnate two strings with only one saddle in the tele's.....as far as sound/tone goes, pup swap is the biggest item change that is going to make it into a telecaster. Good luck, there is going to be a little work involved, and you are going to need a custom plate too.

Meantime there´s no need to do the tele mod. This Silo suits perfect for me and got a lot of spank and good sc sounds. Really love it also for the very very transparent and clear humbuckers (virtual paf). You have to play very exactly but you get a lot of tone out of this axe.
