Just for grins I looked up the Bongo at Wikipedia and found several errors in the entry, so I corrected them.

But there was one item that I'm not 100 percent certain about.

The Bongo 6 is not available with piezos, correct?

Thanks.....

I just did a yahoo search on “Music Man Bongo” to see if the Wikipedia site would be in the top search results and I found that the top search result for “Music Man Bongo” was bovinehost.com!!!!:eek: (Even higher than musicman.com)

No wonder he has been dubbed Lord Bongo!

First, I had a Bongo (and a Bongo Information Page) while most of you were still playing in Off-Topic over at Talkbass, you hosers. I haven't looked at the Bongo Information Page in a while; it probably needs an update, but I'd still put mine up against Wikipedia any day.

Second, that silver bass was just market research. (And what am I doing with the E string, trying to shoot an arrow off a bystander's head?) Plus I wanted to know what a lipstick-equipped bass would do under hazardous conditions - such as it being as HOT AS THE SURFACE OF THE FREAKING SUN during an outdoor gig.

Third, even if it was just market research, believe me when I tell you that I suffered, oh I suffered, at the hands of a certain BP for playing that bass, even if it was just market research. (He would call me and say, "Hey, Lipstick Boy!" for months.) (I would say, "No, I'm Market Research Boy, you should be more appreciative!" He never was, though.)

Fourth, that bass stayed about as long as any non-EB bass stays.

Which is to say - not very long.

Hey, even I have to check out other basses occasionally, right?

had to google "lipstick pickup", figuring that must be what the lipstick reference was about (gee, i wonder what could've given it away?). of course it's on wikipedia, what isn't. never heard of that. have now. dang Jack, most people who do that kind of experimentation do it in adolescence or young adulthood. :)
