I didn't think they put rosewood on any of the EVH's. ...Thought they started that with the Axis.

I think Jay Graydon is the only guy to have a Rosewood EVH. I saw him on TV and he had a EVH in Red with Rosewood board. This purple with a Ebony board is very cool although I have never heard of us making an ebony fingerboard that early. We will need to check with R&D to see if that is correct.

Jay is a great guitarist and has been around the LA studio scene for years. He has been a friend of the company for a long while. He liked the EVH when it came out but asked if we could do a Rosewood version. This could be the only EVH non maple to exist.

The Rosewood option made its official debut when the Axis came out 1996-97.

You could custom order them. You could pick different woods for the body, tops, inlays, bridges. It was pretty expensive though. They had a order forum on their website and after you picked everthing out it would give you a quote at the end. The ones I did were all over well over $3000 Canadian. I have a peavey catalogue some where that shows them with rosewood and maybe ebony fretboards. I'll see if I can find it and scan some pics.

that was a ebony one we made for jay...jay is a long time ernie ball endorser and a great friend. Jay's most famous solo is probably Peg for Steely Dan. Jay was Lukes mentor for session work. Jay passed the number one chair to luke when jay went into producing

Did EBMM ever consider offering production guitars with an ebony fingerboard?

I have a guitar (Godin LGX-SA) with an ebony fingerboard and it sounds absolutely fantastic! very "smooth" sounding plus ebony is a very beautiful wood...

This wouldn't be the Musicman guitar your talking about here. Some other guitar obviously.

Sorry guys. When I saw the rosewood fretboard I thought it was a Peavey Wolfgang. :p I just got off a very long night shift with only a couple hours sleep. It was a rough weekend. Oh well it happens. It was good for a laugh.

Now everybody be quite, I need about 12 hours sleep. :D
