checking the action of necks

Hey all,

I was reading the maintenance section of the web the other day, it was saying the tension of the neck for a JP should be measured by fretting the 2nd and 12th fret. I thought it was suppose to be measure against the 1st and 24th? need advice, thanks in advance

It's whatever standard you use. First fret and then (the way I learned) 13th and measure in between them. Fender and MM use the 15th.

These days I use the 22nd and measure with feeler gauges.
