I recently picked up a Silo 30, and I can admit that I dont know to much when it comes to setting up a guitar properly. I do what I can, but there are certain things I just never seemed to learn.

Everything about the guitar is great, but my only main issue is that notes tend to choke out around 12th fret and up. Is this a fret issue, or a bridge issue? Maybe some truss rod adjustment?

I appreciate any help, and maybe even some criticism for not knowing some basic info!

Thanks!

Take it to a reputable shop and have them set it up. Make you sure let them know what gauge of strings you play and how you want your action (usually low and fast, but some play a slide and need higher action) Intonation can be learned, however, as much of a PITA that it is, it is well worth the 50 bucks to have it done by a professional IMHO.

I am leaning towards the professional set up. As of now, I have done some tweaking of intonation (wasnt to far off), and I did raise the action by adjusting the truss rod. I had a little buzzing on the G and the B, so I knew that would at least eliminate that, which it did.

I have also heard that adjusting the neck screws VERY slightly can help get the neck into the pocket, which in turn helps with sustain of notes. I might try that as well and if all else fails, Ill shell out the extra money to have it professionally done.
