As much as I love playing Bass, I have to choose a Mandolin.

I started out playing 6 string Guitar and I play a number of other instruments.

Maybe it's my West Virginia Gospel Bluegrass Roots. I already play the Mandolin well, but I would love to play it at a Pro level.

I'm happy being a bass player. I'd like to be a lot better than I am, but I love the traditional role of the bass in a band setting and if I could play one instrument at a pro level, that would be it. I wouldn't even have to get new equipment, because the stuff I have is great. I just need to practice more. A lot more. Stupid job.

Since you didn't give the Recorder as an option, I would have to say 6 string guitar.:D

I love bass, but let's be honest.... bass is kinda unimpressive to play solo. Even the Stu Hamm type stuff gets boring after a while.

I would love to be able to play some wildly fast and complex classical stuff on guitar. That or some Hendrix or Clapton type leads.

I like the bass. I wish to become more proficient-- for what, I don't know, but yeah, more proficient

I've been to so many cocktail hours/functions where there's a piano
with no one on it. How I would love to jump on it and play some
Captain Jack or classical dinner music.
Definetly, absolutely would love to play the piano

I love being a Bassist. I have only wanted to play Bass in a band setting (was never a frustrated 6-stringer.) I wish I played Piano to be able to open up my writting a bit though.

Although bass is my favorite & more frequent instrument right now, I'm more proficient on the fiddle, which was my first instrument. I've even won some fiddle contests! I've been fiddling for over 22 years now, so I'm fairly comfortable on that instrument.

Bass is my number (1) instrument, but i have been working with the piano for the last year. This has helped me a lot with original and cover music.

My principal instrument is the wind controller, since I had to stop playing sax due to going deaf. But last night I dusted off the Selmer Mark VI tenor and went to the local blues jam. Even though I haven't played a real sax in almost 5 years the crowd loved it! I got two gig offers and three people wanted lessons.

When I take a bass to the same jam, people are more interested in which bass I brought and tolerate my playing. I miss playing the sax, I really do. But my ears are ringing to high heaven today, so I'll probably not take the sax out anymore...

But I have a blast on the bass and I've met a whole community of truly great people... you people!

ive tried most instruments, and ive sucked at most of them,
drums: lacked the coordination
violin: cudnt stop making screeching noises
sax: didnt know how to blow into the god damn thing
but something about the punch and tone of bass appeals to me. so i hafta say bass :D

since i'm already "proficient" on bass (whatever that means),
i choose keys, so I could write, compose, and arrange better. I mean, piano is the foundation of all western music

same here - I think it was Ray Brown said all bass players should learn the piano to see how everything fits together. I mean thats what we do...hold rhythm and melody together.
