Okay, I’ve located a sparkle white. I need to choose between the following JPs:

Sparkle White ’04 /mint used/ Piezo/ no inlays or headstock

Or

Rad Red/NEW/piezo/headstock and inlays
Christmas delivery and $50 cheaper

Well, whatdoyou MM vets say??

wildcard: Random Hero- will you ship to US?

Danny,

That's a tough choice..

Sparkle white looks stunning and is no longer available.

Both have the piezo, which is the only must-have option on the Petrucci, IMHO.

Buying new does have the advantage of having a warranty, though. Radience Red is/was a limited edition color..

But $50 less for a new than a used? Gimme the new every time. Besides, a new one might come with the new compensated nut, if that's something you care about.

+1.
like steve says.....
new is prefered....
i think rad red would hold it's appeal longer cosmetically.......& those sparkle finishes do often become less than perfect.....so If you worry about perfections alot...that may matter to u.....
& the compensated nut is way cool too.........

jeepers, no one says the white? My other main electric is red; why I pushed for the white.
You really think the nut is that big of a deal?
Any "limited" things in the pipeline to hold off for?

If you wanna use the Pet alot, I say go with the Rad Red. Having the discontinued sparkle color might make you wanna keep it pristine and not play it as much as you would like.

Both are awesome colors....however, go with the newer one in Rad Red. I have that color as well and it is something to behold! Your decision, but it seems like the Rad Red is the one being chosen by the "forumites".......decisions, decisions, decisions.....

BTW...."Welcome to the addiction!"

Plus, buying a new one benefits our friends here at EBMM who pay for this site. Buying a used one doesn't really put any money in their pockets. ;)

I'd get the new loaded one. It probably has the compensated nut. Mine does. At first, I didn't think the inlays or headstock options were a big deal, but I'm glad I got them. It just looks so much cooler. Everyone who sees it gasps!

what a great bunch you all are. I've been a long time HAMERUSA player and a regular on their board for a long time. I'm hugely impressed with the community over here.
Agreed. A used one benefits no one at the company, buy the white appealed to me.
Thanks for ALL the help. I think I might stick around here a bit.... while I wait for my new JP

okay. I bagged the deal on the white one and ordered up a fully loaded RAD RED JP6. My local guy gave me a wicked good deal. Now, like sands in an hourglass....

I'm holding all you guys liable if I don't like the color.

Glad to know that we're off the hook, because you WILL love that color.

And you got the piezo...bonus.

danny, if you check out the pics from the OH gig, you will see RR in use a la Lukather...he had a RR Luke (obviously); those of us that attended the show got to see it in the real there, as well as at the events in general. I'm droolin, I tell ya...

Good luck with the wait, and "welcome to the addiction"; you have your support group here at your disposal, if you need us... :)
