My wife got me a Line 6 Guitar Port for Chrismas. It's a pretty cool little gadget. I've been entertained for hours with this thing. I especially like the feature where you can take any song and slow it down to half speed without changing the pitch. Makes it easier to pick out the little intricate notes on leads. As far as practical aplications for it, there is a recording package you can download for it for $100. Other than that, it's just cool to be able to mix and match heads to cabinets and different stomp boxes, compressors, eqs and effects. It even lets you choose between 4 different cabinet microphones, and distances from the cabinet. I'm extremely happy with it.:D

Hey I have one of those! They are great. If you haven't done it already, check out the lessons/songs/tones/etc you can download with the online option. It is only like $8/month or something. You might even get a free month or something with the purchase.

As far as performance goes, I have no probs running on my laptop. 1.7 GHz + 512 MB RAM.

Hope this helps,

Yeah Scottie, I was thinking about the online thing, but from the reviews of it that I've read on their own forums, it seems like people have had nothing but problems with it, and usually end up dropping it after a couple months. I've also heard it's pretty difficult for you stop the billing for the online service. I may eventually get the Rifftracker software though.

Hey nobozos,

I've had the online subscription for quite a while and had no problems
with it other then when I first signed up. There was some kinda error
and a quick call to their customer service line had me up and running
in no time.

Can't speak about the "hard to cancel" issue as I have not tried to
do so. I remembered that when I signed up, you could pay for a
year up front and get a discount. Now I see that just charge me
monthly.

I must confess though, I haven't been using the online option lately. In
fact, I haven't been able to play much either. Real life has been getting
in the way of my rock star alter ego. New Year's Resolution: MAKE the
time to play :)

Anyways, enjoy the Guitar Port and if ya come up w/any cool settings,
be sure and send 'em my way.

Take care,
--scottie
