Kind of my point.

Nothing to say you can't do it, but it's not the spirit of the Bongo.

A Classic Series Big Al makes more sense to me. It's more retro-futuristic.

When I first got my Bongo all the non-bass players (singers and such) who saw it ooo'd and aah'd and commented on how cool it looks....but then they said "It looks Retro".

Retro definitely wasn't how I saw it. I don't know...maybe it's the Buttercream colour (?). That colour does have a slightly pastel kind of appearance which, I guess, could give it a retro look..

Apart from that....I'm really not sure how you'd make a Bongo look "classic". Sunburst perhaps?

I do, too!

Might be considered sort of a "classic" Bongo:

That was a one-off that the company built in 2006 and auctioned on eBay to benefit the Casey Lee Ball Foundation. I think Dave (musicmannut) ended up with it.

And yes, a fiver would be a dream, eh? But that four banger is a pretty nice little dream, too. Full rosewood neck....

Fiver Mahogany Burst w/ All Rosewood Neck..... I need new pants now. I would absolutely buy that... With frets and all!

That one and Dave LaRue's Bongo just make me ache!

I would be very happy if they gave the Bongo (5'er of course) the 30th Anniversary Stingray treatment - Red Crimson mahogany body, Red Crimson birdseye neck. Heck, toss in the string-mutes, crome truss-rod wheel, it would all be good.

That one with a single H! mmmmhh:rolleyes:

Sunburst 4H Bongo with full rosewood neck? Sold!

I'd buy a 4H like that in a heartbeat. I'm holding off on buying another Bongo until I find something special like one of those. I hope I don't have to wait until the 10th Anniversary (or longer) to get one, but the basses I have will do just fine until then. The 30th Anniversary Stingray is getting all of my attention these days.

I would like to see a run of bongos with ash bodies and unpainted maple necks and boards...that would be killer...

My grandkids will be playing classic bongos. They will be playing mine and still sounding better than anyone playing a fender anything LOL
BP doesn't have to build one as it has already been done.
