Just picked this up at the local GC. One of two they had in stock. And the only recent bass I've ever had that is in the same league vibewise with my old '76. Basically a EBMM neck on a CLF body IMHO. Best of both worlds in the best possible way.

GC is calling these Classic Series Stingrays. Obviously this one doesn't have:

- Flame or Birdseye maple neck

- 7.5" radius fretboard

- Poly finished neck

- Vintage style nut

- Vintage size frets

- Chromed truss rod wheel

Don't get me wrong folks, I'm not complaining and I couldn't be happier. But what in the heck did I just buy?

Not sure under what category that falls, but one thing is for sure: You've bought a very nice bass!

Maybe a concept bass limited to GC, sure enough the headstock logo is reminescent of the Classic series minus the gold MUSICMAN logo.

If you go back to some of the early Classic Torture threads, you'll see pictures of some with standard Stingray necks. Looks like the original plan was to have a Classic model with the standard neck and a Deluxe Classic with the 7.5 figured & finished necks. I assume a decision was made to only offer the latter and sell out all stock of the former to GC--doubt there will be many available.

Finally got to a place where I can see the pictures--beautiful Stingray!

That sounds quite probable, but in the end I just feel fortunate to have had the time and luck to run across these when I did. They even got the hollow saddles with only the bottom portion of the saddles threaded for the height adjustment screws, just like the originals! And the tone and feel....man this is living...like a sonic ****storm through my tube rigs, **** falling off walls and shelves everywhere...lol!

Bottom line, the devil is in the details, and EBBM got the details right. Again!

Thanks for the kudos fellas, and big props from me to the EBBM company for making these possible. Outstanding job to say the least.

BTW the other bass was in what they're calling India White, which I'm assuming is the GC exclusive off white / oly whitish hue. Nice maple neck with a white guard and p/u cover. I could have easily have walked out with that one as well, but the strings were already pretty spanked on that one which kind of made it tougher to assess.

As an extra added bonus: This bass appears to indeed have a SATIN finish on the neck, instead of the usual oil & wax or the new gloss option! I plan on following up with customer service on this to confirm, but I know this is for real...

So for those of you bitching about not liking the unfinished oil & wax blend necks, your ship just came in, lol...!:D
