I picked up one of the SR5HH's with the Roasted Maple neck in Honey Burst finish on Monday and I love it. This is also my first MM and I'm loving it.

Edit: I have the one in the fourth pic in laneline's post.

I just got a GC roasted 4HH and I'm struggling to get the neck right. The action has to be set fairly high or it buzzes like madd. No amount of truss adjustment has helped. I love the sound and the look of the bass but the neck is not right. Rather disturbing that I can get a $300 bass to play better than a Ball Family Reserve. Makes me wonder how this slipped through quality control. Now I'm deciding wether I want to pay to get a fret level and dress (which could get messy, it's a maple board and the lacquer is piled up against the frets like I've never seen before) or pay to send it back.

I'd say if you bought a brand new bass and you have issues with it, take it back or work with GC to resolve the issue. You should be able to return it and the bass is still under warranty.

+1 why not, if your under thirty days from purchase, just return it and have GC get another one shipped to their store ? And if you are keeping it, call MM CS and send it back as they will make it right whatever the fix is, MM CS is unparalleled and incredibly fast in repair time.

Guitar Center has a 30 day satisfaction guaranty.

That Turquoise Pearl with the ebony fretboard sure is looking good. If I had the money I'd probably add that to my collection.

I'm starting to understand the addiction.

I'm still on the fence with what to do about the bass. I got it online from GC Platinum and they have nothing else close to the same level of figure on the neck that mine has, so if I swap it, I will be a bit disappointed with the figure of the new one. I could just return it and shop around for another one (which I may do). The reasons I hesitate sending it back is:
1) This bass just sounds amazing! Really great! Makes me think I can live with the high action...
2) Like I mentioned earlier, the neck wood figure is stunning (if I keep her I will take some good photos to share)

Thanks Laneline, it's great to hear about MM's quality customer service. Could be an idea.

I have a used Sterling HS coming today, we'll see if there's a chance it will fill the void that this bass fills. I also got a used Big Al, which is great, very flexible (I'll really test it this weekend on the gig) It has some nice vintage tones that the 'Ray can't make, but I know it can't replace the sound coming out of that awesome Stingray.

Thanks for the advice guys!

End your misery and contact EBMM Customer Service. They'll probably ask you to send it to them and you probably won't want to do it, but in less than 2 weeks you will probably be thrilled.
