I have a 1998 Albert Lee Model and I really don't know how to clean/polish its "Gunstock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend" finish. I have some Jim Dunlop polish and some Ernie Ball guitar polish. I really don't know if there's something special I use or what.

Thanks,

This information below is from the FAQ section as all Music Man guitars have a hand-rubbed wax finish. You are definitely safer doing it this way, with gun wax, and using Murphy's Oil soap to clean the neck. However, if you have any major staining on the fretboard you must sand it off with very fine steel wool. Just be sure to cover the pickups with masking tape to prevent the steel wool debris from magnetically collecting on them. I have a heavy-duty method where I just use boiled linseed oil, which is basically a sealant for raw wood. My guitar neck feels as good as, if not better than, the new Axis necks in the stores.

Q: How do I clean and maintain my Music Man neck?

A: To maintain the neck, you may use gunstock oil such as Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil with an infrequent dose of gunstock wax or a high-grade of furniture wax.

To clean the neck, we recommend infrequent and small amounts of a high grade of lemon oil. If it gets very dirty, you can use Murphy's Oil soap with a 3:1 mixture. Again, it would be a very infrequent procedure.

Be sure to follow all of the manufacturers recommended safety precautions when using any of these oils or waxes.
