I don't think they'd sell it, but they advise you to get Birchwood-Casey gunstock oil and wax.

Hey Pot, Make sure when you use the Birchwood Casey Tru Oil & Wax, If your indoors keep it well ventilated and dont breathe the fumes. They are petrolium products and you have to handle with care. Also if your using papers towels, Soak them in water when your done and take them out of your house because they will become very flamable.

Hi and like everybody else says - it's a great looking neck.

but I think I can see where you are coming from? - yes the headstock and rear of the headstock will look different after a while , due to the ageing/patina process - e'g' take a look at my EVH

I think what I see on yours is some discolouration on the neck - you can see lighter areas where the strings are? If that's the case then try some of the Murphys soap oil treatment to see if you can remove some of the discolouration. Yeah - it looks great !!

Cheers man - yeah I was lucky on that one - It came up at the right time.

I had trouble sourcing Murphys in the UK and my cousin brought some over for me from the States.

In Cardiff we have a business that specialises in wood finishes, waxes, wood treatments, shellac, nitro celly varnishes etc and I'm sure you have a place like that near you? The name of the company in Cardiff is Fiddes and their site says that they are " synonymous with quality wood finishing products not only in the UK, but across Europe"
Their web site is here
Fiddes | Wood Finishes

My mate - a local guitar builder gets all his supplies from Fiddes.

Contact somebody like that - tell them that you are trying to bring some maple up to scratch and I bet they will be able to offer advice.

Seeing that Murphy Oil Soap is being made by one of the world's largest household/health care companies (Colgate-Palmolive) I'm sure there's a similar product in Europe going by another name...one can get "Palmolive" soap for cleaning wooden surfaces in just about any supermarket here in Germany but I can't tell you whether it's the exact same product (it certainly looks more orange-ish...).

However, I found a source for the orig. Murphy Oil Soap here in Germany...strangely enough at an online retailer for equestrian care supplies (their price seems a bit steep though)...here's the link, I'm sure they'll ship to Luxembourg or across Europe for that matter!

Thanks, I may have to order from them... I don't know if I can wait this long to clean her up and string her, hehe.
The package I got today had some birchwood casey gunstock oil. That won't do much of the job the oil soap will, would it..?

She lives!

First a very light sanding of the back of the neck and fingerboard, but she wasn't that dirty. Then a couple of applications of oil, and finally three good wipes with the wax. Strung her up with my favorites strings (D'addario 10-52) and gave her a good go. Funny part is I didn't even need to stretch the strings, she just stayed in tune the entire time with no issues, and I can do a lot of bends in 40 minutes (none in tune but that's another story).

I also never felt this comfortable nor this accurate and in tune on a guitar before. Simples.
