hey kids

as i have mentioned in the past each of the basses have a distinct sound and character. It would prove nothing to just plaster the Bongo or stingray on each of these. It would also tell you that we don't understand the personalities and nuances of each of these basses. Each of these models are true to their original spirit. Hopefully somebody will appreciate this because it is the design high road and takes a lot more effort and concentration in the design process

I would much prefer they sound different actually... Just makes my job that much harder... along with the Axis SS I'm gonna order with it. I just dont really want to wait :) Some sound clips would be a cool thing to add Cliff!

im about 99% sure im going to get an HS Sterling with non-matching headstock (matching headstocks scare me). oh ya ... 1% chance ill get an HH.

All that I need to decide is what color to get. I think Buttercreme would be amazing but they only come iwth matching headstocks. so far I have a Blue Dawn Sterling and a Natural SR4. I'm leaning towards getting a 'light' color - so nothing like black etc ... kindof a "cheery" color. Any suggestions on a finish and pg color guys? i would really appreciate it.

Thanks for the info Cliff ... awesome to have ya informing us here. and BP if Cliff happens to be busy some day and u need someone to test prototypes ill be happy to cruise to SLO and lend a hand :)

probably in about 4-6 months.........BP ducking in bomb scare fetal position,,,

No need to duck man that gives me enough time to open the bass fund again and work out which of the little beauties to plump for...... :)

Sorry, I will be offensive once more.... :D

I am sure those new 2-pup basses that look like stingray and sterling(but are not stingrays and sterlings) will sound great!!! I can't wait to try out those two stingray and sterling lookalikes! :p

BP -- you're doing the right thing in keeping them 'true to the spirit'.

A 2 pickup SR5 SHOULD have the killer bridge pickup tone and growling B that no other bass has -- plus more. It sounds like that's what you've done, and that's right on in my book.

When I have the $$, I will have to make a 2p-SR5 vs. Bongo decision, but that's a good problem to have. I'll have to play them both, and decide which is right.

Very cool.

But does this mean the Bongo and the Sterling sound nothing alike? Forinstance with the Neck solo'd or mixed. This has kinda left me clueless, no suprise though haha.

I'm kinda torn... I love the Sterling neck.... but the Bongo is just the most amazing sounding instrument...

they sound different by all means ;)

Yeah, thanks Cliff. Thanks a whole bunch for pissing my wife off! :D Actually, she'll be no problem. I'll babble to her so much about this that she won't object to my buying one just to shut me up.

BTW, EB is still going to sell single pup Sterlings & Rays, right?

We will still offer the basses with 1 pickup. I just played the SR4 HH, and that thing kills! Dudley is the MAN!

Ok, I'll ask:

Cliff, what's your personal preference.
Bongo HH , StingRay HH, or Sterling HH?

I love my sterling,
I love my SR5--
but I could not live without my bongo HH (& single H)
I'm off to a session in awhile and I will take my bongo HH ---with the single H with flats as a back up instrutment.
I will be at Signet sound which is the old Motown studio here in L.A..
thanks for the question
all the best
