Many of you have asked for an example of the new Colbalt Flats so here goes. The song is In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel.
This is the NRA Band (no rehearsing allowed) that plays once a month in L.A.
This was recorded straight from the mixing console so it is a rough mix complete wit a few clams by your truly but it should give you a good idea of what the Cobalt Flats sound like.
The bass is a Bongo Single H 5 string played through the Markbass Multiamp. The DI from the Multiamp went straight to the console.

What a tone. Wow. Great job, Mr. Marotta.

Sounds like a fretless to me. (?)

Superb! Sounds great Dave....and love the playing. Nice work to all of you.

BTW, just curious where you're setting the tone controls on the bass. Are you turning down the treble and/or mids? Or is some of that tone coming from the settings on the amp?

Thanks!

Bass was flat. I made a preset on the Multiamp that uses the Markbass Big Bang Amp model but no effects or compression

I think the real test is how they sound a few months from now. Flats can be pretty bright at first. I'll likely buy a set for my fretless Ray that's on order. Knowing the quality of EBMM strings, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Ughhh... can't wait mine Cobalts Flats to arrive...

It looks like a Bongo single H and these are the perfect match?

I have been actually playing.....and playing these....high end on flats are great....its just understanding that you have all the bene's from flats and full freq spectrum...listen to the fundamental on these...no fight with the kick drum or keyboard. Great job Dave!

I also am using the Cobalt Flats on a stingray 5, A Bongo HH 5 string fretless, a Paul Lariat acoustic fretless and a 70 P bass. They work great on everything
