To add what I already posted - the more I play the more I like the Cobalts. In fact I was in GC the other day at lunch looking for a music book and noticed I guy at the counter talking strings. I immediately chimed in and shared my experience with the Cobalts. The guy bought a pack on the spot! Gotta spread the word as these things are amazing!

Rock-solid tuning continues and the sound continues to amaze.....really having fun learning theory and scales and working on technique. Really great not having to constantly re-tune. :)

So Cool! Love hearing your feedback. We've been hearing the same from a ton of artists. The chili peppers new guitarist called in yesterday saying he's had the same set on one of his guitars for 8 shows and hasn't had to re-tune or change. Pretty cool!.

When are the flatwound bass strings coming?

I ordered a 5-string set of cobalts for my SR5 from Musicians Friend on 03/24/2012. They were on back order at that time. I just received notice that they got the strings in and they shipped today.

Just cleaned up the tuning just a bit due to some non-locking trem usage. First time in 3 weeks! I LOVE these strings! Rock solid! :)

I also recommended the Cobalts to a bass player friend here at work. He's pretty picky so we'll see what he says. He just got them in.

The cobalts have been working great for me, the only drawback for me is they don't last any longer than regular slinkys. I keep the guitar in a case so it's not exposed, but I have to swap them out after a few weeks

Having played the cobalts for 2 days now I can say they are without a doubt punchier than regular strings. I think they give a better tone above standard nickel and from what I can tell they're a bit louder.

However, as far as feel goes, I'm also VERY certain they are rougher than regular slinkys-- I noticed it instantaneously. I put a new pair of regular slinkys on another of my guitars (same gauge) the same day I put the cobalts on a different guitar and my fingers simply do not glide across the wound cobalts like they do the regular nickel slinkys.

I'm not yet sure if I'll make the switch. The cobalts do sound better to my ear-- since the wound strings are made of this new alloy, you're basically getting more and a brighter low end-- but there is definitely a trade-off with feel and comfort. I don't know if it's just the nature of the metal or if maybe the spaces between the grooves are wider on the cobalts, but they are certainly rougher. I just cannot slide across them with the same ease. Could EB possibly add a coating to them to facilitate sliding?

I was afraid the Cobalts could be too bright because I already find standard Slinkys to be bright. But, I guess it works.
I don't play metal, so I am guessing thse will not be for me.

For what it's worth, I also am really enjoying the Cobalts. I strung the EBMM BFR jp6 Koa with them in tens th other day! sound great! more tonal response, but not overly bright like other steel strings I have used. I usually prefer Nickel strings but will continue to use these now

I put Cobalts on my Strat last night. I agree that they do add more fullness and punch to the tone.

I do agree that they are a tad rougher than what I normally use. Not barbed wire mind you but there is a difference.

I'm waiting to see how long they last. That will be a big deciding factor on if I stay with them. I don't mind paying $10 but they'll have to outlast regular strings at least by a little while.

I like to eat cheese when ever playing...Will the cobalts have a different sound after a few days of playing while eating cheese?..Sorry, Its a curse...Has anyone strung these up against another brand Side by side?..I ask because I use Elixers on a couple of guitars that hang on the wall a lot just because of the rust and contamination,Even when i string up with those the guitar sounds so much better every time..I use the Super slinkys on my main two..
