they are taking the skeptical dealers by storm....they didnt order enough

That was my assumption. GC's first date was "2-17" and that changed to "on order" then to "3-5". I figured the 2-17 shipment was sold-out and the second order was 3-5. Just speculation on my part because GC isn't giving info. When I ordered I should have been on the 2-17 date but my order hasn't shipped yet. That's why I'm "Trying to wait patiently".

I was kind of bummed. Today we had to go to Denver for our youngest sons cardiologist appointment. On the way back I stopped in a Guitar Center and called 2 other ones to see if they had the Cobalt strings in stock. None of them did yet. All the stores said they were expecting them sometime within the week but weren't sure when? All of the stores did say though that quite a few people had been calling about them so that is really cool to hear. In any event, when the strings do come in, I am definitely going to get some.

But whats important here is; Is your son okay? Guitar strings are cool but... I hope everything is okay.

Yeah maybe I should have commented on that Erin. Thank you for asking about him. Zach was just fine and got an excellent bill of health. He was born with aortic stenosis that was undetected in the womb. Had to have heart surgery at 2 days old to temporarily fix the valve but we were told eventually he would need valve replacement surgery. He had that 2 1/2 years ago but goes in for an annual check up. Had we been given news that he needed additional surgeries, I would have been too bummed to stop at GC. He's a little trooper though. His birthday is in May and he will be 9. For it he wants to start learning bass or guitar so we are going to by him a SUB from Sterling by Music Man bass or guitar and then start getting him lessons. He may even get some Cobalts for it too. If not, at least some super slinky's.

OK, seriously, what is the deal with the Cobalt's and stock? My order through GC has been pushed back 3 times now and now the expected ship date is 3/26.

Can someone point me to any place that has them available now online? I've found 3 unicorns before I can find these strings.

I'm getting the same thing for 5-string bass. I sent an email to GC this morning but haven't received an answer yet.

Looks to me like they are populating the retail outlets first. My MF order is still on backorder, but the local GCs are now fully stocked.

For real and for all sets? I plugged your zip into the GC site and every location nearby says "Ship-to-store, estimated in 3-5 days" for my bass set (5 strings)... it says 4-string sets are in stock.

I get the same for the GC's near me.

San Jose and Roseville both in stock. Bought both bass and guitar sets in SJ, but saw both in Roseville yesterday. (Very nice, btw)

I wonder how EBMM CS views this "man on the street" thread.

I kinda picture a mad scientist in the warehouse in Coachella petting his white cat and chuckling "bwuaaahaaa haaa haa, you maggots will get your pretty little strings when I'm good and ready"

Then I think to myself, "BP's gonna get mad at me again", so just ignore that little interlude. Where's that "delete" key again?

I really can't wait to get a pair of these. My birthday is at the end of this month and I'm thinking the Cobalts will be on the birthday wish list.

no it is just off the charts the reception and reviews...we got a stunning review on the gibson forum today ....

I don't know what kind of production numbers you have and I won't ask you to tell me but It wouldn't surprise me if GC was ordering everything they can get their hands on. I heard back from them and they were supposed to have a shipment in today with another shipment in next week. Whether I'll be in on this week's or not I won't know for a couple days while they fill the orders.

Meanwhile, I will be patiently waiting. They'll get here :D

I bought 2 Cobalt sets 45-65-80-100 from GC yesterday and put them on my F****r. I must admit to being totally and completely impressed. The sustain is amazing, the mids and lows loud and punchy, and the highs clear. They are a bit of a different color, kind of a cooler silver rather than warmer. Noticeable when held next to a nickel string but nothing overt. Great silky playable feel, tension neither too low or too high. The bass sounded so good I was compelled to stay up way too late for a work night, and I felt good and played really well (for me anyway), like one does when you have a new weapon in your equipment arsenal that you are really digging and it inspires you to greater heights musically. I haven't tested in a band or gig situation yet, but I think they are gonna be great. These strings are the real deal, Cobalt is definitely not hype. I'm happy I got 2 sets, so I can put them on my EBMM Sterling tonight as soon as I get off work. These strings are going to set the bar really high; they are absolutely amazing! Congrats on another game changing product; that term applies perfectly to the Cobalts
