Color preview sticky ?

So many here get off on bass porn and there's
a lotta questions about how stuff will look if a
certain finish is ordered with a certain PG [etc].

Maybe we should have a Color Preview Gallery
sticky thread. Important rule would be simple
posting titles so it's easier to hunt down color
combinations to preview, such as "Shell PG on
Cobalt Blue". Pix should be straight forward in
the manner of a catalog or specs sheet view.

Even discontinued finishes are needed. If you
wanna get a cool PG for your Desert Gold ax,
finding pix of one or more PG colors ON that
body finish would would offer you a preview.

It would take a while for such a gallery to
develop into a really useful collection, but I
think it would be worthwhile to get it going.

I think he's talking more about specific finishes with specific pickguards, not just specific finishes. Just by sheer combinatorics, if you wanted it to be exact, you would need every model bass in every finish (possible) in every pup config (possible) in every 4 or 5 or 6 string in every pickguard to get them all. But that's really ideal, more or less the goal he's going after is to just get at least one bass per finish per pickguard, correct me if I'm wrong, Golem

The existing sticky could be easily expanded to cover that. It just requires people to submit their photos of said colour/pickguard combo to be added to what's already there.

Pretty much yes. I can't imagine it approaching a complete reference
gallery, like with zero omissions. And body shapes and PU configs are
not the point. Mostly it's about "how does this tie look with this shirt,
or this jacket" and not about the tailoring, fit, detailing, etc. I figger
when such a sticky reaches the point where it's very useful we'll have
two reasons to browse it:

1. At least a 50/50 shot at previewing the finish/PG one has in mind.
2. Browsing existing finish/PG examples to decide what to order.

If ordering a new bass, then only currently available finishes matter,
but if ordering a PG for an older bass, such a gallery as this might be
one's only hope of possibly seeing a preview before ordering.

With a collection of good straight forward images, one can possibly
Photoshop two images together to get a preview. It doesn't hafta be
a perfect work of art, just a decent mock-up of the color scheme.
