Colours!

Hey guys, first time poster here and proud owner of a Stingray 4 (lefty!)

I have a question about colours.
Over the past couple of years a lot of pretty funky options seem to of dissapeared from the list, Pearl Lavender, Fire Engine Red, Translucent Purple and others.

Why have so many been dropped, all my favourite colours are now not available except for Sterling Silver. Were they simply not popular enough to keep building them?

welcome to the forum. You pretty much answered your own question. It does basically come down to those colours just weren't selling. Stick around you'll love it.

I pose this question just to be irritating from time to time, usually in the form of "Whatever happened to (insert oddball color here)?" If it drags on long enough usually BP chimes in to remind us all that something like 80% of the basses sold are black.

But, I hear ya. This is why I'm always on the prowl for used EBMMs in my favorite colors. It's how I got my Medallion Gold Sterling 5 HH. Though I can never afford to buy them, I am always on the lookout for 5ers in Copperhead Bronze, Orange Firemist, Desert Gold, Olive Gold, or Lava Pearl.

Right now on eBay there's an SR5H in Autumn Redburst that is literally breaking my heart. That finish is the holy grail for me. Gonna go check my Powerball ticket....

Gorgeous white lefty! I love that color. Its sad to see some of the neatest colors ever dreamed up get discontinued but if no one actually orders bases in those colors, you can't blame EBMM for discontinuing them. I lucked out last year and ordered my True Gold lefty Bongo 5 just days before the color was discontinued.

But this year I bought a used plain black lefty SR4, never expecting to own a plain black bass ever again. I just could not pass up such a great instrument and now I have come to appreciate the simplicity and touch of class of "black and maple".

Its easy to get over the color of a bass when it plays and sounds like a piece of heaven!
