GC stands for Guitar Center. You should order from some place like Bass Central (BassCentral.com) or where I get mine from: Pat's Desert Music in Las Vegas, NV (Patsdesertmusic.com). Both places will obviously ship them to you. But you mentioned Canada... I'm afraid I'm not sure of what you guys have up there as far as good MM dealers.:)

Guitar Center

Personally,

I don't like going to a store where I know more than the sellers about a particular product. But, I pretty much continue to go there for two names: Ampeg and D'Addario. And of course, the occasional Stingray or Bongo test drive. :)

... ... years back i could not afford the EB stingray i wanted now i can ... so i'm debating trading ... or keeping? or should i maybe not purchase one at all?? ... i have read and heard that the ATK was basically a clone to compete with the sting ray ... ryan

Once upon a time I was in something like your situation
- as it was in real life, I wasn't sure I could 'live up to' a Music Man bass because I didn't figure I could play as well as Tony Levin
- one day I realized that my desire to play a Music Man bass was so bad no matter what, that no other bass would satisfy that desire
- I also realized that I'd never *be* Tony Levin, and that if I didn't move my @$$ and get playing my own Music Man bass, I'd never discover what fine instruments they are and how they might help me find my own Music Man 'voice'
~

Nobody else is you
- You are You

An ATK is not a Music Man bass
- a Music Man bass is a Music Man bass

It's your choice and it's simple
- apple juice, or Champagne

Blowing bubbles into apple juice doesn't make Champagne
- if you want Champagne, ask for Champagne

You either are, or you are not, a Music Man bass player

If you decide you want Champagne, nobody sez there's anything wrong with keeping some juice in the fridge for those 'other daze'
~

Cheers,
/R

Not quite sure what you mean. An ATK is an extra 3 lbs on the shoulder, as compared to a swamp ash Ray.

If you just mean you're very happy to have a 9.5 lb Ray, or that you carry two of them, way cool. If you personally put on 9.5 lbs, go to the gym. You don't mean you're preggers do you?

You crack me up....no not preggers...9.5lbs was a "size" reference...dry humor. ya know.....

If you're a lefty, you might want to look up Southpaw Guitars in Dallas TX (USA). Google for their website. They usually have a good stock, and prices are comparable with mail order.

Be sure to click on 'basses' from the main menu, rather than 'Music Man' (If you click on MM, it will tell you none in stock; all their MM supply is listed under 'basses'.)

If you go custom order (like I did with my sterling), expect a LONG wait -- mine took a little over 3 months. Of course, mine came to me exactly how I wanted it.

If you're not particular about colors, etc, and are just worried about getting it in your hands asap, try Southpaw.

Don't get your hopes up with Bass Central (Florida). Their website shows a lefty explosion, but when I called they had ONE in stock.

As said before, you can try bovinehost. He's way cool (as we all are here, right ? ;) ). There's also a gentleman on the bassplayer.com site, 'DONUT' who works in a music store that stocks lefty MM's. Nice guy there, and fairly competitive.
