I'm looking for a decent compression pedal. I have a Boss-CS3 that I never really cared for - so I don't use it. I would like to get a good compressor. I have tried and liked the Keeley Compressor and the Maxon Compressor. I have a TC Electronics Nova Delay and LOVE IT and know that they make a 2 channel compressor. What are your thoughts and or suggestions? I don't want to spend more than 200 for a compressor...somewhere between 1-200 would be good. Thanks in advance!

Well,

I really like the MXR compressors, such as the dyna oder super comp. However, I don't know the new one, yet.

The Boss definitely sounds awful.
Another great thing about the MXRs is the price, size and that they're easy to get, so you don't have to worry about backups.
For me the perfect comps on stage ;)

i got a Keeley 4 knob right now that I'm renting for a week. It's a really good one for being transparent, not altering your original amp tone too much. It really does enhance the clean tones. I'm not convince about how useful it is with for high gain settings.

I have a Barber Tone Press which is very clean and not squashy at all. However it may be removed from my board today to make room for a Xotic BB (to use as a clean boost) I find that i play mainly med-high gain and I think I may benefit more from have a clean boost as opposed to the compressor, which i use mainly as a boost

I had a CS3 that I modded with the Monte Allum mod. It was a lot nicer after that.

Nowadays, I use the Demeter opto comp, which is nice.

im using a BYOC kit that seems right up there with the Keeley... and they're inexpensive (but not cheap)

Lots of different kinds of compression. Do you want transparent or colouration? I've got the Analogman mini Bi-comp and love the Orange Squeezer side ... really coloured, but in a way that I like. Nice and squashed.

I agree with beej.. i've got the Analogman juicer.. Awesome for single note lines.

If you prefer transparent, try the Compulator from Demeter.

I have the Keeley 2 knob comp. BEST comp I've ever used in my life before. Haven't had one as transparent and clean unless compared to a rack or studio comp.

I use it only to doctor my clean tone. Give it some more shimmer and add some sustain.

Very rarely use it on gain period, unless I'm trying to doctor a very distinct lead sound. Which lately has been very easy with the 25th. :D

Yeah, Compulator, that was what I meant.

I've heard really good things about the BYOC compressor. I've built their phaser and that's cool as well.
