Concert for George

This was on the PBS station in the Buffalo area last night - not sure how it works in the rest of the U.S., anyway Albert Lee was there.

I've had the DVD for a while now, and I really like it, tho' I get the feeling that some of the participants [:cough:Ringo:cough:] don't live on the same planet that I inhabit (which - of course - they don't)... I thought Paul was great, and seeing Albert there was cool. Clapton was Clapton, but to me he's become as ubiquitous as wallpaper and about as remarkable...

Yeah, pretty much since Derek and the Dominos, I don't think that Clapton has done very much I liked. The occasional song, but he got really bland...

I would have liked to see Peter Gabriel do something in this concert, but oh well. In my perfect world PG would be in a lot of things...

I think Albert Lee plays quite a bit for Eric Clapton. What a great concert, eh?

All the guests that played really suited the songs that they done. If you get my meaning.

Interesting how people (guitarists esp) will say they were influenced by the BEATLES but they not too many will say they were influenced by George Harrison.

I think Here Comes The Sun is so beautiful. I heard it while growing up quite a bit but when I first heard it on C.D. the dynamics from the quiet melodic guitar intro to the band sent shivers down my spine.

Doesn't Neil Gauntlelett who plays for Joe Brown (who did Here comes the Sun for that concert) play a Musicman Silhouette ?

I watch alot of music concerts and documentaries. P.B.S has another one coming up ("Great Performance") called "Guitar Gods"
which sounds interesting.

I thought it would be cool to see Ernie Ball sponsor a P.B.S documenary. How many gold records were made with Ernie Ball Strings?

That concert looks great! I would especially like to see Doyle Bramhill II and Eric Johnson. Very fun stuff indeed! I may have to check out this PBS stuff more often...

I am not sure? He is pretty great though!

I just never realized that PBS had anything other than Seasame Street...

Not that they need anything else. I guess these concerts are just a bonus to the normally great Seasame Street theme...

Are you kidding? What do you think Oscar the Grouch spends the rest of the time in his garbage can doing? The guy is in there doing the 10 hour Steve Vai guitar workout. Look for his upcoming CD on Favoured Nations.

I love Austin City Limits. My top two favorites have actually been Dr. John and Lyle Lovette. I have seen the SRV and Eric Johnson ones, and they are great, but the Dr. John and Lyle Lovette ones were just too much fun. Those guys had great bands and some really great songs!
