Mahlon, you are correct. Never owned that color.:D

That blueburst was discontinued, and I bleeb it was a late 80's-early 90's finish. I could be wrong. I was that one time.

I think that is one of the finishes that "melts off" the body (unstable) and I think a Pitter in Europe owns one that color.

That was 1988, wasn't it?

Seems to me the case was the culprit. So it depends on what kind of case it's been in, eh?

I have an '87 (trans red) and an '89 (black) that have non-melting paint

I've seen a few examples of the melting finish from that late 80's era, but I don't remember the details.

Hell, I don't know, I'm a relative EBMM newbie by comparison to other brands. I just know that a pitter in either Germany or Beguim has one in that color with the melted off finish. I think it looks cool myself.

They just look like a really, really played hard and put away wet relic Tom.

Think "Custom Shop Relic"...lots of bare wood.

From what I recall it was caused by some chemical reation between the case lining and the finish.

well it finally turned up in the UK :)

It did have a cut switch fitted, not really sure what use that would have been so I replaced it with a series/parallel switch.

I like the lacquered (thinner ?) neck (flame AND bird's eye, very nice) compared to the last Stingray I owned, but I'm not sure about the pickguard, might be time for another black pearloid one :)

Yeah, that's a really beautiful color. I, too, wish they'd bring it back!
I remember watching a MTV live show in the early 90s, where I saw a guy playing a StingRay in that color. It was "rap-metal"-style music and the bass player was heavily influenced by Flea. I think they were from Germany and called H-Bloxs or something. I remember it because it was one of the first time I ever saw/ heard a StingRay, and thinking how great it sounded and how cool it looked. You could say it influenced me in getting my own 'Ray later on.
Sorry for my rambling on something that's probably beside the point!:D
