Greetings fat stringers,
Every once and a while I have trouble sleeping so I come over and read the bass forum. Just kidding. You guys are great. And I mean that about each and every one of U. Regardless of your instrument's health.

I would like to think that every once and a while we skinny string folk can have a little something to bring to the party. With that in mind I would like to offer a thread from the guitar forum entitled: Ernie Ball, The "Grown Up" Forum.

Also, I would like to share the pictures of the new knobs I put on my guitar. It may be a small thing but to me I think the results turned out smashing.

These are actual photos. I don't even have photo shop.

Keep Thumping guys. Without you we're just a bunch of freaks mashing our fingers way up high on the tiny strings. You know, we're going like:
Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely Medely MEEEEEeeeeeEEEEEEE!

Thanks for dropping by, Norm. Some of my best friends are g*itar players. Well, not my BEST friends, but I do know some of them.

Nice knobs, my man. Very fancy. I like fancy stuff.

I did check it out! Got a set of 4 coming from WD. I had a couple of questions and they e-mailed me back within minutes! That's the kind of service I like! Plus they contribute to the Fender Bass forum website.
I'll let you know when I get them here and put on (Pics a-comin').

The ones on my guitar came from jcguitars in Chicago via eBay. When I was researching the idea I saw the ones at WD but the JC ones were much less expensive. Like you, I emailed the dealer and got great service as well.

I did mention on the g*tiar for*m and that my knobs were slightly smaller than the factory ones. I don't have my calipers here or else I would give you the exact measurements. Also, I did have to drill out the 15/64 hole to a 1/4 inch to get them to fit on the MM pot shaft but that was trivial.

Spector, It was your post of the PhotoShop pickguard that prompted me to share the pics with you bass guys. Did you get the black chrome bases? I think that would be sharp.

On the other forum from time to time I have posted the Idea of a 20th anniversary Silhouette. (Due in 2005 or 2006) The 20th anniversary Sting Ray was the inspiration and is just so pretty. One of the most requested features from the people there for that (pipe dream) model is some sort of fretboard inlay. After seeing how good (IMO) the knobs looked I purposed fretboard dots to match the pickguards. I think it would look great with the pearloids and ice guards as well. What do you guys think?

"Did you get the black chrome bases?"

They had black bases so that's what I ordered. I did not know of a black chrome, if that's different from black. Oh well - I think they'll look great anyway.
