I was just wondering if anybody knew if I could order a compensated nut from EB or an EB dealer. My Stingray's a 2004, so it didn't come with one.

So... couldn't I just remove the old nut, router the proper nut slot, and install the compensated nut?..

Yes you could, the additional width is on the fret board size. But it's a major thing, since there really isn't any going back (apart from patching the fret board). Don't know if MM is too happy with that solution though, maybe that's what Colin refers to, them looking at a way to do it without forever altering your bass?
