Hi Everybody,

I'm new here, but a longtime EBMM fan. I have two axis sports: a sunburst mm90 and a red s/s/h. I've been thinking for a long time about putting a tele bridge pup instead of the humbucker. After seeing Brad Paisley's new guitar, it made me want to even more! Obviously I would need a new pickguard, but do you think it could be done well?

Thanks in advance!
Jason

I suppose you could find a way to mount one in there. But I'm not sure it would give you the desired effect- the distinctive tele tone depends largely on the bridge. If you could mount a tele bridge in there (like Brad has on that Axis Sport) then you could get there.

That's not to say you can't get some nice twang ... but it's not going to sound like a tele with just a pickup swap.

I think the question really is can you mount a Tele bridge in there? Would it require routing or filling? Will there be gaps on the side of the bridge? What if the Sport had MM90s? How wide are they compared to a humbucker? Will the Tele bridge sit far enough back to allow the saddles to have proper distance to maintain the scale length? Not that I've thought about it or anything......

Pretty much my thoughts for the last two weeks too, Greg!

I've been keeping an eye out for AX20 deals too, for this very purpose!

Marantz got somewhat close with his Silocaster, that rocked.

I think a lot of guys want one of those guitars that Paisley was playing, and it would be cool if enough sparked intrest to where maybe BP could do a run of 50 as I would be down. I think there may be too much red tape though to get it done.

I think I'm going to give it a shot. I know it won't be 100% tele like...I have my tele for that, but I think it will be more "me" than a HB. Who do y'all recommend for pickguards?
