Man I'd love that body Dave has spotted on E bay!!
I could get a neck custom built from scratch to fit that!!
- I may go for it!!

Really ?

What's the etiquette on dibs here ?
I was thinking about buying it and routing it for a trem to spare Pinky.
But obviously if you and or Dave B have called dibs on it first I'll stay clear.
And even if not there's no point getting into a bidding war on it right ?

I've been mulling over the idea of building an AL - having the services of a guy who builds guitars for a living (from scratch). I'd spray it Blonde or butterscotch in nitro cellyand craze the finish like a relic - but no dings or dents
I'd get pickups hand wound from a guy in the uk,maybe go hb/S/s I guess the only other hardware I'd have to source is a set of machine heads.

I'll be bidding on this(etiquette permitting)If Daveb isn't but will not pay a ridiculous price for it.
My plan would be to make a complete guitar not as a spare body.

EDIT
Still have the scratchplate right here DRb and will be searching the house for some packaging! - sorry it's taken me a few days.

Spud, maybe you'd be best off keeping hold of the plate, It might come in handy for AL no 3;)

Let me know if you change your mind though, cause If you don't want it I'll jump on it.:D

OK here is the deal
the ash body I know nothing about. Warning to Spud..If you try to build your own you will have a guitar with no resale value and your cost will exceed what a bfr will cost. It is like restoring a car...you do the math in your head and in the end you always miss something. Also why would you want a "bastard Al"?

THe signed guitar I signed too and it isnt pattitucci it is Petrucci. Albert has a connection with a lady at Virgin Airlines that helps him out with upgrades. She had a charity that Albert came to me and asked for a couple of guitars. I gave them to him and he collected sigs at the namm shaow about two years or three ago. The sigs are underneath the top coat so they are there forever. Cool Guitar.

You are right on the Car bit - I build a Baja Bug once and after adding up the cost of the Mag alloys, Tyres, carbs etc etc - I could have bought a Karmann Ghia or a bug convertible.
I wanted to PM Wonderdog on this as I have no intention of breaking any law or treading on anybody's toes, but someone somewhere will buy this.

The trouble is I have 2 excellent contacts:-
A good friend who is a luthier and who builds/repairs guitars for a living, and who could build me a neck for £200 at mates rates, and a guy who would wind me 3 pickups for £180.
Scratchplate Blank £15/pots£10/switch£10/paint£25/tuners£50/Strings£5/screws & plate £15/ strap buttons £3./Jack socket & wires £7

But look where we are already, we are at £520 plus the cost of the body + postage.
Hell, I don't think it will cover the cost of a BFR and is coming very close to the second hand value of AL's in the UK - the last one I saw was a black mid 90's hardtail going for £750.

It's very temping and it would not be a botch job.

decisions decisions!!

I'm up for any advice!

Wont you have a tough job getting a neck plate?

I'm sure the factory wont hand them out - and they are unique.

Dave, good luck with the Sig I hope you win it.

Spud, there was someone selling neck plate blanks on EvilBay that fit the EBMM's. They were for people who modded OLP's.

I like the body- guess it must have "walked" out of the factory at some point ...

Would be great to finish it and use it. Keep the natural colour or give it the Pete DuBaldo mystic finish
