Wont you have a tough job getting a neck plate?

I'm sure the factory wont hand them out - and they are unique.

Dave

I'd make one and have it plated - I have someone who does plating.

BP is talking mucho sense, and I have to think about it.
It would be a great little project that could be funded bit by bit.
Am I just chasing pipe dreams?
- I know that I can get a fabulous neck, pickups and finish for a lot less than Joe public would have to pay. A new Ball is completely outta the question, especially if no#2 son does decide to take a degree in medicine, but ... ...

I like the body- guess it must have "walked" out of the factory at some point ...

Would be great to finish it and use it. Keep the natural colour or give it the Pete DuBaldo mystic finish

It could have been parted out, just like some Fenders and Gibsons you see on eBay.

Dave, good luck with the Sig I hope you win it.

Spud, there was someone selling neck plate blanks on EvilBay that fit the EBMM's. They were for people who modded OLP's.

Glenn |B)

Yeah I remember that - it's just if I went ahead with it I don't wanna buy anything that's illegal.
I can easily get one made.
Ho hum!!!!

Spud i love your 25 pound paint...get a machinist to make the plate and plate it.....Please dont make it with a 4 and 2 headstock as i dont want to confuse anyone between a factory guitar and hobbybuilt.

I would "buy a bit of paint" off my mate. My Dad (a jig and tool maker) was always making him bits and pieces and welding things up for him.
He's never forgotten that and cuts me a good deal.

I dunno though, I've had a few hours to ponder, and I think I'm letting my heart rule my head.
So I'm gonna say that if anybody really (100%) wants this then go for it.
Otherwise, I'll watch it and come in at the last moment if the price is a give away!

BP, I'd honour you on the 4+2. - just like when a fellow knucklehead built his version of a Pet (I think it was a Pet!) and used a 3+3 headstock.

thanks I just dont want you to bloow your money when I can have it!

LOL, how's that for candor! :D

Spud, I can dig where you're coming from. It could be a fun project. The thought even crossed my mind, using parts off a Silo (except pick guard, of course), but I know it would wind up being just... a bunch of parts. Would rather have the real deal.

If you do go this route, I hope you'll keep us apprised of your progress.

I'm interested in it, but not to build a whole new guitar.
Remember a while ago I started a thread about having Pinky routed for a trem to further my Beck type stylings ?
And do you all remember that my fellow Knuckleheads in general and the ALOC in particular felt that doing so would be a BAD idea ?
Well I'm in no financial position to buy a whole 'nother' Albert and trem loaded ones in particular do seem to be rarer than hens teeth.
I do however have a pillar drill, a pin Router and a Wilkinson tremolo going begging. So I could feasibly 'trem up' this spare body transfer the bits over from Pinky and see how it goes without trashing Pinky's body.
It's just an idea mind you.........

Candid oh for sure I would post updates.

OT
I would love to make a post of my 1930's USA built archtop with a view to finding out more info about it.

It has a story to tell with photos from the 30's that backs up it's provenance.
It's obviously not an EB guitar but would be of interest to knucklehead historians.

BP if you come by this thread again, would that be ok?

ok BP I understand.
There's no Paramount Forum so I'm a bit stuck.
Some guys in the US have helped me on it but the history is difficult to track down.
I understand that Martin produced guitars for them initially.
It's the case of a USA producer (Paramount Guitars) that is no longer in business and it's history will probably fade to all but the "educated few".

Completely off topic
Just got back from "big brothers" who has returned from a holiday in the USA. They went to Chicago for a wedding and spent some time travelling . He said "we returned to a favourite place of ours - Carmel and also SLO." I didn't know that they'd ever been to SLO !!! small world!!
