1st one is on the right track - I like the combination of "real" objects creating something new. :)

If the "pilot" aspect is relative to an airplane, then the altimeters for the eyes is right on track. Also, how 'bout a flight-yoke for the horns?

Those pictures make me think of the video from "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel, where his face is constantly changing.

That "cow" could be changing the same way.

The first one has a more "real life stuff" appeal, whereas the second one has a graphic art type thing going on. I think they both could be useful. I just like the second one more because it looks more like a finished logo I'd see on a shirt.

As for the using the pilot reference, mixing both designs would be an idea.

But what the heck do I know? I can hardly play bass to begin with

Cool stuff though...

Very cool! very creative. I like the 1st one better.
reminds me somehow of some of the artwork on King Crimson's Thrak album.

I like the first one too. Maybe make the eyes an altimeter and an artificial horizon?

+1 - although both are appealing as is!

Both are good, but I like the 1st one....Maybe use this for the eyes:D In the early 70's I worked for a company that built these things for the military.

Allow me to second that suggestion . . . . or, as Larry suggested, one of those (artificial horizon) and perhaps an altimiter . . ..
