Well, I’m without a bass gig now, last night was it. The family that owns Fiddlers Cove is having personal problems and decided to close shop. Even though it was a very loose gig and far from the level of performance I prefer, I’m going to miss it. I’m bummed. I’ve got all these basses and amps and no place to go…

I guess I’ve lost my “bass player” status and now I’m back to bass owner/collector… well at least I’ve got my good looks… :D

I’m going to Virginia now to collect my thoughts…. And my pressure washer and yard tools.

Hey Psycho, I don't know of anything over here in the Burlington, NC area, but I'll ask around this week & see if anything is available over here. Just saw your post, sorry about the Cove gig. They called me several months ago, but I was already too tied up with the group I'm with. Just got back a few minutes ago from Petersburg, Va. Old Towne Civic Center Katrina benefit. We played at 1:00. Great crowd, probably still going on at this moment (8:30). My ride had to leave early. One group drove in from Ohio. Anyway I'll ask around for you over here. Something will turn up for you I'm sure. Did you say you played saxophone????

Psycho...

I was going to post a rude joke (with the best intentions) about how your naked pic had made it out into public and resulted in your demise, but I just couldn't.

I thought about how I'd feel if I lost my band...I can't imagine it. I've known my crew for 23+ years and they are my very best friends...in some ways closer than my wife, and closer than my siblings.

Making good music is pure joy. We're just a cover band, but that doesn't matter....when you're on, when you're clicking, when the audience is grooving...there is NOTHING better. It's more addictive than crack cocaine.

It seems a bit silly...I mean, on one level everything I do with this whole music deal is just an aging boy playing with expensive toys. But I really think that losing it would be a horrible experience.

Stick with it...do what it takes to make music. That is, after all, what it's all about...scratching that itch!

Best of luck. Keep us posted!

Hey I just checked out your site, very cool! I see you've played Plum Krazy's, I live with in walking distance from there. Let me know if you guys are in GSO any time soon, I'd love to come hear you.

I used to play sax, but I switched to wind controller only now.... long story...

Get some rest, you've had a long drive and day, but it sounds like a fun gig.

Thanks.

It's monday morning and I know pretty much how you feel. Last night I walked off. I didn't resign, I didn't say anything. I just unplugged and packed up. The details don't matter, but it's a personal/musical integrity thing. The gig is 3 nights a week, every week, and has been that way for 3 years, so it's what I mainly do.

At least my situation is still somewhat in limbo, and I have [theoretically] free choice to put up with the problem or not [but in general, I almost NEVER put up...]. Your situation is completely beyond your freedom of choice, so I realize there's that helpless feeling, plus seeing a good thing die. Best of luck seeking another outlet for your vibes.

Well I’m a little bummed, but not bitter, they are good people and I feel sorry for them. The father of the family had a stroke a while back and isn’t doing too well. He tried to run sound, but he’s deaf in one ear and has no technical knowledge on how to be a FOH guy. The rest of the family is just trying to humor him. I really do wish them well.

I play in two other bands but as a keyboard player, but I’m going to seek another bass gig, it’s just too much fun playing bass. And there are gigs around, but I do thank all of you for the support and kind words. :D
