Will be upgrading the pups on my JP50

since I cant test pups here,
I am asking you guys for your inputs

our genre is a prog-ish metalcore
think between the buried and me.

and usually we set the guitars in Drop C tuning,
Ive heard D sonic delivers well in drop tunings but I still dont know yet because I havent tested out a guitar same as mine that has those pickups
(I am one of the very very very very very few here in the country that has JP50)

thanks a lot guys!

i got both right now and I have to say Crunch Lab hands down. Just a way better pickup than the D-Sonic, little more of everything.

I asked myself this very same question and I believe I even had a thread on it.

I was encouraged to get the Crunch Lab and I'm glad I did. It just kills. The D-Sonic was good but the CL is better.

CrunchLab kills the D-Sonic - recently switched back from my DS BFR to one of my a CL BFRs and it was a wow moment.

I agree that the Crunch Lab is a more balanced and well-rounded pickup but I kept the D-Sonic in one JP6 because I'm after that raw sound sometimes.

Bear in mind however that tone also depends on the wood.

I think so, because the CL has more clarity and better output than the D-Sonic.
I don't do drop tunings, but I can't any reason why the CL wouldn't sound good in dropped.
I got D-Sonic right now in my main JP6, but I'm very tempted to switch to the crunch Lab/ Liquid Fire combo, which I got on my JP50.

How does the Crunchlab compare with the old EB custom bridge pickup that is similar to the Steve's Special?

I replaced the d sonic with the crunchlab in my jp6 bfr, and love the difference. Huge sonic improvement. The D sonic (to my ears) sounded a tad sterile and lacked that edge/attack I was looking for.

CL smokes the D-Sonic. I hated the D-Sonic I had in a guitar and swapped it for a CL. Night and day. CL is great for low tunings so no worries there.
