curiosity - what are those holes for?

just out of curiosity, what are the holes for in the knobs, it looks like an allen wrench can fit in there...

what is it used for adjusting... the tightness of the knob, as in its "resistance" ?

not resistance but rather a good ol' set screw to keep the knob on and in place.

As long as they're straight, I don't care.

I actually move my volume knob so that when it's a half volume the set screw hole is straight up, facing me. I like to run at about half volume on my bass so I have somewhere to go if I need a boost.

I try not to 'fret' about my knobs, but they may be trying to 'pickup'. Still, I'll cross that 'bridge' when I come to it.
