It's all good.

I think there was confusion abounding on which models were being discussed (SR/Sterling vs. Bongo)

Paul & Travis: Thanks for the kind words.

IMHO, I thing the confusion comes from refering to the pickups as "front" and "rear" instead of "bridge" and "neck". To some, the front would be closer to the bridge while to others, it would refer to the pickup closer to the head of the bass.

funny how reference frames help to clear things up. Good point about using the term "front" and "rear". I would wonder how a pickup on the rear of the bass would be good for anything other than magnetizing your belt buckle. :D

That's because you would be talking about the BACK of the bass....not the rear.

Dude is one of the few folks that may have tasted the sweet spot on Bongo.

I must state the single H bongo gets the job done with authority even for us folks not so good and famous as BP.

Now to learn how to use those extra frets that come on the Bongo.

This is what started it all. What is your definition of the "rear" of the bass?

Bridge area..or rear.....the foward area or "horn"...would be toward the neck. How many times have you heard, "put it on it's back" to replace strings or true the neck? How many ads for used basses state..."perfect, except for belt rash on the BACK???

Defense rest's.

James,

it is not confusion over the term "back", it is confusion over the term "rear". I've never understood the terms "front" and "rear" in terms of pickups. Too confusing since "front" would have two distinct meanings when refering to a bass. So to me, the rear of the bass is the back of the bass. Ever since, I just stick to "neck" and "bridge" when refering to pickup placements. Much easier frame of reference to remember.

Hence I made a joke about the "rear" pickup magnetizing your belt buckle since rear is a synonym of back. Now that I have thoroughly dissected this joke, it is not funny at all (if it were even a little bit funny to begin with) and so I ban it from occupying any more time in my life. I use "Joke-Be-Gone" for such instances.
