I have a feeling what you see will be the test case, I'm guessing for a year before they make changes, again just guessing.

Looking ahead, if you can order an HSS JP6 or a Luke with the Petrucci trem I'll be in seventh heaven!

That's going to be a gorgeous build! Can't wait to see the pics!

Playability is fantastic - great tone and resonance. My only real concern was the weight over which, as a buyer, you have no control. Would it be a 9/10lbs boat anchor? o_O

I'm very happy to report that it's extremely light - around 7.5lbs I think, which is awesome for a full scale bass!

The black hardware looks great, but the gloss pickguard is a fingerprint magnet. I'll probably swap it for a matte or anodized one to match the rest of the hardware.

The color is not quite what I was expecting. The 3D renders make 'Golden Delicious Pearl' look like Aztec Gold - bright and yellow, but in person it's much closer to Shoreline Gold which is more brown. I think I would have gone with a more exciting color if I'd seen how it really looks first.

The Pau Ferro fretboard is also not the color I was expecting which, in the renders, looks closer to rosewood, but it's actually a very good match for the roasted maple neck and blends in tastefully.

Overall, absolutely thrilled with this new fretless! I'll be trying to do my best Pino Palladino impersonations this weekend. 🤪

That is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. :D
Thanks!

My other fretless is quite a looker too, but it's very different tonally - more of an upright sound with a piezo pickup hidden in the bridge. It's been right at the top of my favorite instruments list for 10 years or so! Very inspiring to play, but it doesn't have the Pino/Jaco tones that I've been craving.

That came out amazing! The light weight is a real shocker, though. 7.5 lbs is crazy light.

As for the colors, it might behoove EBMM to add a swatch gallery (or just add a real swatch to the render page) for a closer representation of the color. Or maybe real world examples as they start to get into people's hands.

Either way, congrats! That's an absolute knockout.

Or they could rename the color 'Cardboard Pearl' :ROFLMAO:

Here it is next to a Saturn Gold Valentine, which was more what I was expecting based on the 3D representation...

An attempt to get 'that sound' :D

Replacing the glossy fingerprint magnet pickguard seemed like an easy job. Loads of third parties sell Stingray pickguards in all kinds of materials...

...but there's a snag. They all for the classic pre-2018 Stingray when it had 21 frets. I can't seem to find any in anodized black with the right hole pattern and a cutout for 22 frets. Back to the drawing board. 🥴
