Derek....is this tax deductable??? Is the CLB Foundation a non-profit?? If so I just may go kooky-crazy on this...let me know. My accountant informs me I need some deductions and I'd much rather write a check to the CLBF than Uncle Sam.

The Casey Lee Ball Foundation is a nonprofit organization where 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to pediatric kidney research. We are able to provide a receipt to the winning bidder for their donation. According to the IRS the write off amount is the difference between the "fair market value" and the donation amount.

Please!!! go crazy with your bids............

Derek, you are a veritable fountain of information!

Now, fair market value.....let's say it's used, because of course it's been lugged around, hither and yon, to NAMM and so on....so fair market value on used SR4 is around, oh, 800 to 850.

But then it's been defaced! Look! Someone has written all over it! And not just someone - a whole gaggle of someones. That has to have a negative impact on its resale value....so let's say maybe 600 dollars.

Now if you can get the IRS to buy that.....heh heh.

Yes I believe you are on the right track. Jack ....

Fair Market Value HMM!!!!!

Kind of like my rental house in SLO.

It was appreciating at around 25% a year. Come tax time the IRS says "no wait that is a depreciating asset and you get to take another deduction on that house"

Kind of silly but sometimes the IRS tax codes can really work in your favor.

If Luke scribbled on it, doesn't FMV dictate that he has to pay the winner $100???
