That JP is awesome Norrin! Does it glow in the dark? :D

It does! Now - anybody know a good way to take a picture of it glowing? I'm not very good at photography and can never get a clear shot in the dark - it would be cool to have one - any tips??? I have a digital camera (that sucks! - damn you Sony!!!)

Dim the lights a bit, turn on a blacklight, w/ black cloth in the background, turn off the flash.... and use a tripod

That should do the trick.

Thanks Pete!

Now all I need is a tripod and a blacklight and some black cloth and I'm ready to roll! :D

If you don't have a tripod, just set the camera on a chair or something. I have a glow guitar and that's what I have to do to get a decent picture.

Norrin, did Herc Fede swirl yours?

He sure did! The guy does fantastic work (the finish work is immaculate!) - for anyone who is interested or just wants to see some cool paint jobs, check out his new web site at:

Good idea on the pics - now I just need a blacklight and I'm set.

Norrid, that JP looks really awesome. Was getting the swirls on it rather expensive?

Define "rather expensive". :D

Actually it was not bad at all. I think around $630 for everything (and that might be a little high - I don;t remember exactly) , including shipping/packing/etc....

PLUS, when you send it to Herc, you just send the guitar in the case with a new set of strings. You don't need to do any prep work or anything like that. Drop it in the case after your gig, box it up and ship (with prior arrangements made, of course) and it comes back to you finished and all set up. Easiset thing I ever did. And Herc is a great guy to work with. Top notch. :)

No that's not bad... I was wondering if it costed as much as the guitar itself!

Is the quality of the paint as good as the original finish?

Absolutely! The first thing my wife said when she saw it was "It looks like they did that right at the factory", and she was right - it's really amazing - I wish my pics did it more justice.

ABSOLUTELY +1. Herc is really amazing. His paint jobs are top notch. The single coil is a dimarzio Chopper. Sounds great. Tone Zone in the bridge.

To be honest, this guitar doesn't leave the case because I'm so use to the Axis neck now. I don't like skinny necks. Even the JP is uncomfortable to me. I've debated selling it for awhile, but it is one of a kind, so I figure I'll hold onto it.

I paid $355 for the guitar itself, another probably $900 for the paint job, superb inlay, routing, wiring, everything. He even moved the guitar jack from the bottom to the Jem type angle jack. He added the grip, and routed under the tremolo. Keep in mind, there were some HUGE dents in the guitar beforehand. Literal chunks missing. He filled them in and you'd never know the difference.

For the record, I realize this is the EB forums, so I'm NOT recommending Ibanez, I'm just saying how good Herc is for those wishing to swirl their balls.
