Kent,
Your best bet is to go with your next favorite color.

If that one is available.

Or just be patient and ebay.

Hope you find it.

And I've argued before, why do PRS do private stock then? PRS guitars are at least as well made as EBMM but they offer high end customs to those willing to pay. I've said before I don't think EBMM should go this way, butit's worth remembering that not all companies regular lines suck :)

Thats a matter of opition, me myself don't like PRS guitars, alot of people prefer the ealier PRS guitars and think the new ones suck, but still thats a matter of opition, i like player EBMM guitars and no ones gonna change my mind, unless a better well made guitar is out there, and it probably is.

To each his own,

Scott.

My intention was not to argue, it's just the fact that I don't realize what the problem is. I'm sure this has been discussed before and I'm sorry if I repeat someone else questions, I'm new to this forum

I've been in contact with a lot of dealers looking for a certain color, even contacted EBMM and they gave me a tip which dealers to contact.
If none of those dealers had the guitar I could make (quote): "a special order" through the dealer (with several months waiting period).

Here comes the part I don't understand..
They can make the Axis according to my needs, BUT with let say, 15 different color options. That is great and the color options are nice!
It's not like I was going to invent the guitar in Photoshop, give them the picture and say: "hey, make this guitar for me", then it would be a real custom shop.
Further more it's not any unknown color, instead it is a color that they have had, and know how to do, if they simply had the paint necessary to do it.
The paint shouldn't be that hard to keep in stock for future requests?

No one is arguing here, l just don't think EBMM needs a custom shop, they have a big enough range of colors/guitars etc, but thats just my opition.

Scott.

You are right - it is all a matter of opinion. Obviously on this board, people prefer EBMM - they are great guitars - I just get a little frustrated by the tunnel vision some forumites show sometimes. I happen to like quality guitars, I also like different brands. Sometimes only an EBMM will do, other times if I want a stratty tone, then only a strat will do. I don't criticise anyone for playing what they like, I do dislike the negative comments towards other brands

Raz,

Your not a dork, you are Canadian. WOW.....You must have thought I was NorM's cousin or something with all of my opinions. (don't worry NorM just kidding...you're ok in my book and I am also on the protien diet)

The thing with the colors is that you have to draw the line somewhere! I cannot possibly inventory every color in the rainbow. The trans black was a horrible seller. WE discontinued it. case closed.

Regarding my flippant comment regarding custom shops, those makers know who I'm referring to. PRS is not one of them I am a huge fan of Paul and his work and accoplishments. THere are however some really big names that have guitars made for artists at small not advertised custom shops.

BP,

Now you've done it... NorM is liable to show up at SLO with a giant genealogical chart showing that you are *indeed* his cousin. Maybe his 26th cousin five times removed, but a cousin nonetheless! :)

I didn't think for one minute you were referring to PRS - I was merely pointing out that sometimes this forum likes to jump on a particular brand that does not deserve derision. On the other hand, there are some truly God-awful guitars out there with big name endorsees - I'm not mentioning names either, but you can probably guess. I think we should drop this subject...

I'll tell ya one thing, Paolo...

There are few things on television that are more amusing to me than the Canadian candidates for Prime Minister having their debates. Very lively stuff! :D

I thank you for taking the time to interact with your customers.
I hope you're proud that at least some think the color was beautiful and bugs you on public forums, asking for it!
However, I didn't ask for the rainbow..

Suggestion:
Why not keep a few cans (or whatever the color is kept in) in case a couple of future special orders drop in?
(I'm strictly talking about the discontinued ones, not the entire rainbow)
Offer it as a special-special order: "discontinued colors +350$"
I bet at least some people don't concern about the extra and it would for sure cover the cost of keeping the color in stock.
I know your opinion on custom shops but offering previously colors as specials isn't really the same thing in my opinion :p

As a salesman you've probably already consider this but came to the conclusion the reason you can't offer discontinued colors is because:

1. it's expensive to keep old colors in stock because spray cans have a best-before-date and you have limited storage facilities.

2. your supplier of paint also discontinues the paint at the same time you do.

3. the method of production won't allow individual paint jobs (without big adjustments) because of some logistic issues
(its a machine that makes the paint job and it needs reprogramming or some other reason)

4. if you did, people would come to think EBMM is a regular custom shop.
That will end up with all making special orders and no one buying from the local retailers.
The retailers then wouldn't dare to buy any pre-produced and you end up loosing the advertisement value of having the guitars hanging on the retailers walls.
In the end you'll go bankruptcy and you're fall will be remembered as
"the trans black death"

If none of the above options are correct, please feel free to enlighten me ;)

Thanks again for taking the time to answer and special thanks for a great product!

Wow man, just Wow. I know you are a guitarist(;)) but how many ways do they have to tell it to you? The phrase "Beat a dead horse" comes to mind.

I have to agree with Andrew, how many ways can we say: Either buy a EBMM as offered or look for another option....no matter how many ways you slice it, it;s the same post over and over again...and yes it is getting argumentative, not only to us forumites but now to the Chief...that ain't cool.
