Here's an old video of one of my fav bands, the Rheostatics.

Their bass player, Tim Vesely, used to play a Cutlass I. His tone and his playing was a huge influence on me back then in the early 90s. This clip is live and the quality is really good -- Tim gets a lot of great sounds out of the Cutlass.

The bass in the video was stolen later that year and he replaced it with a StingRay5.

Yeah his tone was great. You can definately "hear" the graphite's difference on the Cutlass. Very nice.

Gav..I just repaired a 100th anni NAMM bass for Bass Central..It should be back in their hands next week....It's in great condition. I had to replace the battery box..Some knucklehead put the battery in backwards and broke it.

Excellent sounding Bass!

Got ant more?

.

I'll dig around and see if I can come up with some more Tim Vesely stuff.

In the meantime...

One of my favourite bass players from the 80s is Mark O'Toole (Frankie Goes To Hollywood). He had a crazy biting tone, and his lines were very cool (although Trevor Horn replaced a lot of his parts with samples on their first record).

There is a FGTH website for fans that has a ton of live and rehearsal audio. His Cutlass is there on a lot of the tracks.

Here's a clip: http://www.fgth.nl/FGTH-NET/livefiles/KriscoKisses84R.ram

There is also an entire 90-minute concert that you can watch (the quality is pretty horrible but you can actually hear the bass quite well once you get used to the sound.)
